"All We Are Is Just Another Brick in the Wall"

Last night was a bad night. Ben was scratching and waking up very frequently. His skin was dry. We were tired.

This morning, I decided to call a dermatologist.

The first dermatologist, who has an office in our town, said he could see us next week, but the only problem is, while he's in our network, he's not a preferred provider, so we'll have to pay $105 for the office visit.

The second dermatologist, who has an office about 15 miles away, is in our network and can see us--at the end of May.

The third dermatologist, who is not in our town but is in our network could see us--in August.

Sometimes, it just seems like things shouldn't be this hard. Why can't somebody help my baby without charging us so much money?

  1. Joes first visit to the dermatologist was the same way! Ask about seeing an assistant. That is what we did. It gets your foot in the door sooner, and when they see they have a real issue, they go get the doctor.

  2. Baby dermatologists shouldn't have such a long wait to get in, either!! Argh.

  3. I agree, Erica. Lynn, I am seeing the dermatologist here in town first, but, for now, I am keeping the appointment I made in May as well.

  4. Ask his pediatrician to send a letter to the dermatologist asking that they try to get him in ASAP ... my pediatrician did this with our GI doc, and we got in to see him almost immediately rather than having to wait a couple months.

  5. Crissa,
We are going to go to the dermatologist here in town that our insurance doesn't totally cover, and that's next week. But I am still keeping the other appointment because it would be nice to get into see a doctor that our insurance covers. Also, if the first guy doesn't do anything, we have a backup option. That is a good idea though.
